Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 18! As we get in closer to the holidays including Thanksgiving and Christmas, people will inevitably start taking more time off of work which means less commuting and by extension, less listening to podcasts. This week I’ve tried to bring you episodes that mostly fall under an hour in listening time. So if you’re outside dressing a deer, taking care of any last-minute fall lawn work, or just sitting in your shop reloading, these episodes should keep you entertained for a short time while you start to settle into your winter routine. This week we’ve got episodes from our friends over at IV8888, Vortex Nation, and of course last week’s TFB podcast episode. Happy listening and happy early holidays everyone!

TFB Podcast Roundup 18: Gunsmithing, IV8888, and Turkey Hunting
Length: 33 Minutes
Subjects: A great discussion about having the proper gear and equipment for hunting – including medical gear
How can you outfit your hunt at Brownells.com for greater success? Brownells Roy Hill joins Gun Talk Hunt’s Kevin “KJ” Jarnagin to talk hunting gear, must-haves, emergency gear, Iowa hunting regs, new guns and Brownells specials coming soon, and the ones that got away.
Length: 36 Minutes
Subjects: Eric and Chad discuss the topic of making sure your equipment is up to scratch – are you sure?
This episode from Eric and Chad of IV8888 features a topic that I have had to fight many people on over the years when it comes to guns, and equipment – even medical equipment. In this episode, Eric and Chad talk about how far too many people simply take the advertised specifications or capabilities of their equipment and fail to properly verify that their gear is doing or capable of doing what it should. Personally, I would take it a step further and say that you should be constantly vetting your equipment as things degrade over time, and rifles pistols and shotguns can have day-to-day variances in how they behave depending on a variety of conditions. This is a great episode to show the “just as good” crowd if they can stomach it.
Length: 14 Minutes
Subjects: The guys on the Vortex Nation podcast talking all about Field Kits or “Kill Kits” for hunting
Field dressing and breaking down big game for transport to the truck requires the right tools to get the job done. But what are the right tools? Mark Boardman and Erik Barber compare notes, well, knives more accurately, in this talk all about what we use to get meat home efficiently, clean, and ready for final processing.
This is a great episode for new or inexperienced hunters as well as a good refresher for you seasoned hunting veterans out there.
Length: 41 Minutes
Subjets: Host Andy Gagliano talks about one of his most recent turkey hunts and provides some helpful advice and insight for fellow turkey hunters
An Outrageous Turkey Hunt
This week Andy shares one of his spring hunts with us. The day this hunt took place the weather was horrible. The wind was howling, and the temperature was just above freezing.
Once the turkey hunt heated up, the cold went away. And the turkey that Andy’s hunting partner, Chip, killed tried to climb into their laps. Chip basically had to kill this turkey in self defense.
Length: 87 Minutes
Subjects: An interview from team Winchester and their experiences from the 2021 NSCA Nationals
Team Winchester, which included, Anthony Matarese Jr, Zach Kienbaum, Theo Ribbs, Eric Harvey, and Donny Ballard, sat down with me to discuss everything about the NSCA 2021 National Championship. The targets, the wind, the turnout, the differences in years past and so much more were brought up. We even discussed something that will eventually squad the top 40 shooters together at future National Championships to create an even playing field. Towards the end, we talked about Tom Mack and some of the funny moments we had around him and the jokes that he had to tell everyone.
Length: 66 Minutes
Subjects: The TFB Crew talks about some of their gunsmithing experiences and tips for those who want to get into the trade
