Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 39! I hope everyone’s Easter was nice and peaceful and you could get out to the range to blow away some peeps (the candy not people)! Since moving back to Tennessee I’ve been trying my hardest to improve my skills across the board when it comes to firearms handling and marksmanship. I consider myself to be a below-average pistol shooter and it’s been quite the struggle to become proficient with just one gun since I am constantly handling and shooting a wide variety of handguns for reviews. However, that’s not an excuse on my part, and a couple of recent podcasts I’ve listened to demonstrate that there really are ways you can make significant improvements in your performance if you’re willing to put in the time and effort and also have a good piece of humble pie every once in a while. So today for TFB Podcast Roundup 39, I’ll share a few of those podcasts with you in the hopes that they can inspire you to improve your skills no matter how good you think you are.

TFB Podcast Roundup 39: Talking about Bad Habits
Length: 80 Minutes
This is another semi-related aspect to keeping your skills proficient but it relates to another thing I often put off doing – cleaning and storing your guns properly. In this episode of the Vortex Nation Podcast, Ryan M talks about how to take on corrosion that has already started and also prevent it from happening in the future. (Spoiler Alert, it takes work and good habits). When it comes to optics, there is actually a lot of maintenance that I’ve never done that the guys explain here which you also might find enlightening.
Rust, it’s a fact of life when it comes to vehicles we use to get us to our favorite optics-related activities. But does it have to be? In this podcast, Jim gets rust redemption on his arch nemesis. We also grab Ryan M. to get his take on corrosion and corrosion prevention.
As always, we want to hear your feedback! Let us know if there are any topics you’d like covered on the Vortex Nation™ podcast by asking us on Instagram @vortexnationpodcast
Length: 44 Minutes
This week, Ben and I got together to discuss some bad shooting habits that many people develop.
This is the episode that really got me thinking hard about my pistol skills this week. Even when you’re training hard, if you’re not honest with yourself and taking the time to practice proficiently, you’ll just be squeezing the trigger without actually learning anything and at worst, you’ll be forming bad habits that are going to be tough to unlearn down the road. This is a good one for concealed carriers as well as target and competition shooters. The guest on this podcast is Ben Branam who is the current host of the Modern Self Protection Podcast where he brings his military experience to help civilians in the subject of self-defense.
Length: 28 Minutes
This is a new podcast I have picked up and I don’t know exactly what it is about guns and lawyers but they always seem to come together as a package deal (see TFBTV Executive Producer James Reeves). Gun Lawyer Evan Nappen talks about the freest 2A state in the Union (New Hampshire) and also answers some of his listener’s questions about some legal issues in the New Hampshire area. Evan is a highly experienced lawyer who has been practicing gun law for over 35 years and he has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to guns and their related legal issues!
Gun Talk Radio After Show | 74-Year Old Veteran Needs To Know If His Gun Is Legal; Suppressors For Varmints; Ultrasonic Gun Cleaners
Length: 30 Minutes
This is another listener-driven episode that answers a lot of common questions gun owners have about a smattering of subjects including ultrasonic gun cleaners, suppressors for hunting use, and gun legality. This is just nice and easy listening while you’re cleaning up the grill from Easter Sunday.
In this hour: – He has a pistol, but he’s not sure if he needs to register it in his state. How to find out. – For a full day of shooting varmints, nothing beats a suppressor. – Consider an ultrasonic tank for gun cleaning. Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk 04.10.22 After Show
Length: 39 Minutes
Today on the Podcast we have the man, the myth, the legend, Mike Pappas from Dead Air Silencers. Pete caught Mike out in the wild during SHOT Show 2022 and Mike, as always, was more than happy to give us a few of his thoughts as well as a few good personal stories surrounding his start in firearms, and the suppressor industry. Mike also goes a bit into the history of some of the suppressors he’s helped design and even a couple of anecdotes about how today’s NFA struggles strongly mirror events in the past. Please welcome once again Mr. Mike Pappas with Dead Air Silencers.
Thanks as always for stopping by to listen to this week’s podcast roundup. Let us know if you found any of these podcasts helpful in any way or if you have other podcasts that you enjoy on a regular basis. See you all next week for another TFB Podcast Roundup!
